Size
| Fore-triangle height (I) | 14.24 m |
|---|---|
| Fore-triangle base (J) | 4.41 m |
| Boat length | about 38 ft |
| Genoa size (LP) | Sail area | Price in Dimension-Polyant Optimum Cruise 348 OC 8.4 oz |
|---|---|---|
| 110% | about 34.5 m² | from A$3,181 / US$1,967 |
| 120% | about 37.7 m² | from A$3,471 / US$2,145 |
| 130% | about 40.8 m² | from A$3,760 / US$2,324 |
| 140% | about 44.0 m² | from A$4,049 / US$2,503 |
| 150% | about 47.1 m² | from A$4,338 / US$2,682 |
LP is the genoa’s overlap as a percentage of J. A 110% genoa is easier to tack and suits windy places; a 140 to 150% genoa gives more power in light air. Most cruising boats carry about 130%.
Sizes use the published rig dimensions for the NM 38. After you order we send you a short measurement check. If your boat’s numbers change the price, we tell you before design starts and you can cancel for a full refund.
Choose your sailcloth
Both cloths are woven polyester (Dacron) from Dimension-Polyant, the German sailcloth maker. We name the exact cloth style and weight so you know what you are buying. A cheap sail usually starts with a cheap, unnamed cloth that loses its shape; we would rather save money by running a streamlined loft.
- Dimension-Polyant Optimum Cruise 348 OC 8.4 oz: Dimension-Polyant’s cruising Dacron and our best value. A dependable all-round cloth for coastal and weekend cruising.
- Dimension-Polyant C-Breeze 351CB 8 oz: a tighter weave of higher-tenacity fibres that resists stretch under load and keeps its shape for longer. A better pick for a genoa that stays on the furler year-round.
