Median price for each length: mainsail with full battens and a 130% furling genoa in Optimum Cruise, standard build of about 4 weeks. Shipping, and import duty for the US, are added at checkout. C-Breeze, the longer-lasting cloth, costs about 10 to 35% more. Each length page shows the range and exact prices for popular boats.
Why bigger boats cost more than you might expect
Sail area grows faster than boat length. The typical 40 ft boat carries about 38.5 m² of mainsail against 11.5 m² on a 20 footer, and needs heavier cloth to carry the load. Two boats of the same length can still differ a lot: a tall rig or a fractional rig changes the size of the main and genoa, so we price every boat from its own rig dimensions.
How we worked this out
We priced the mainsail and genoa for every boat model from 20 to 50 ft in the Sails.Online catalogue, using each boat’s published rig dimensions (I, J, P and E) and our standard build. These are the same prices you see in the shop. Sailcloth is Dimension-Polyant woven polyester, with the cloth weight matched to the boat’s length.
