Formosa 56 sails: questions

How much is a new mainsail for a Formosa 56?

From A$6,468 in Dimension-Polyant Optimum Cruise with 3 leech battens and a full-length head batten, or A$6,729.80 with 4 full battens. C-Breeze, the long-life cloth, starts at A$8,421.60. Every mainsail is cut to the Formosa 56 rig (P 15.75 m, E 5.88 m) with two reefs.

What size genoa does a Formosa 56 need?

We build 110% to 150% LP for the standard rig (I 17.35 m, J 6.20 m). Pick a smaller genoa for a windy home port and a larger one for light-air sailing. Furling genoas start at A$6,506.50.

What size spinnaker fits a Formosa 56?

A Size 11 (133 m²) asymmetric suits the Formosa 56 fore-triangle. It starts at A$3,793.90, or A$4,914.80 with a dousing sock.

What size storm jib and trysail fit a Formosa 56?

The Offshore Special Regulations cap a storm jib at 5% of I squared (15.1 m² here) and a trysail at 17.5% of P × E (16.2 m²). That makes our Maxi (12 m²) storm jib and Maxi (15.5 m²) trysail the right sizes.

How do I check my boat matches these measurements?

Measure I, J, P and E and compare them with the rig table. We confirm every measurement with you before the sail is cut.
